Optimism is…
hope.

I find I’m so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.
~ Morgan Freeman as Red in The Shawshank Redemption, 1994
That’s really the best way for me to describe Optimism, and I have almost nothing else to say about it. Almost.
Optimism is about seeing the brighter side of things. It’s not to wash away the reality of life, but to remind ourselves that there is always another option, should we choose to see it, choose to use it, choose to live it. When we choose to see the glass as half full, we choose to acknowledge what we hope to be true.
What do you choose?
