Thursday Thought: Feel All the Feelings!

Feel sad. Feel mad. Feel hurt. Feel awful. Feel self-pity. Feel icky. Feel alone.

Feel the feelings. Feel all the feelings.

Those feelings don’t just go away because you choose to ignore them in any given moment.

Just like you when you’re trying to be heard, feelings don’t like being ignored.

When your feelings feel ignored, they act out.

And when they act out, you have a choice to hold them and hug them and feel them and make room for them and let them get processed, or to create a compounding and vicious cycle by ignoring them some more.

When you make room for just the feelings that feel good, even the feelings that feel good start to become numb.

And when your feelings are numb, so are you.

And that’s no way to live.
