Reverb 10: Wisdom.

by Dian Reid-Jancic· Follow Dian on

I’ve been told since I was five years old that I have wisdom beyond my years. I’ve always wondered when that wisdom would run out, or when I would catch up with myself and now be behind my years in wisdom.

What was the wisest decision you made this year, and how did it play out?

~ Susannah Conway

Wisdom is kind of a funny concept to me. When you tout your wisdom as knowledge, you can be seen as arrogant. When you just let yourself be—when you choose to learn from yourself and those around you—wisdom comes from places you never knew were there. It just is.

Some people call it wisdom, some call it insight, some call it intuition. I believe it’s acting on what you know to be true. I also believe wisdom is using hindsight as a learning opportunity rather than a bitch-session.

On a physical-stuff level, the wisest decision I made this year was to get an external hard drive (and use it). Of course, this was after my internal hard drive had crashed—three months after I’d backed anything up on it. Six months after the internal drive was replaced, it crashed as well. No bitching (well maybe a little), just learning. Hindsight. As. Learning.

On a soul-spirit-mind level, the wisest decision I made this year was to love.

Love openly, love wholly, love completely, love honestly, love with every fiber of my being.

After all, All We Have Is Love.

This post is written as Day 10 of Reverb 10, inspired and created by Gwen Bell (Best of ’09) and her rockingly awesome cohorts. Are you reverbing too? I’d love for you to share yourself in the comments below.
