How did you travel in 2010?

How and/or where would you like to travel next year?

~ Tara Hunt

2010 brought travel by plane and by train and by automobile, but most of my travel was with the Wildcat. Which means it didn’t matter where or why we went wherever we went, only that we had a great time in doing so.

We traveled to Saratoga by way of SNA to SJC then through Los Gatos during World Cup time—SO much fun to see Americans all rooting for the same thing, an unfortunate rarity; Houston (not so much for fun but we still made the best of it); Phoenix by way of borrow-a-friend’s-awesome-luxury-Lexus; and Lake Tahoe by way of Morgan (the Wildcat has named her car—and every other possible thing to name—Morgan. I fear our children will be named “Morgan1″ and Morgan2”). I’m sure I must be forgetting something. I feel like we traveled more. Or maybe it was just the Wildcat. She did go to London in January without me.

What I loved most about the travel this past year has been simply having the means to get out of the house, and then to have a home to come back to when we’re done being weekend pretend-vagabonds. It’s also an amazing feeling of warmth to pick up Jackson from doggy day camp, seeing his little half-curled tail doing figure-eights in excitement to see his mommies. Sometimes I wish we could take him with us, and then I think traveling with a 75lb lab-pit might be a little more work than we’re willing to take on vacation.

The coming year will see us travel again to Dallas and/or Houston (family in both places—and a nephew on the way in one of them), maybe a couple of localish trips by way of Morgan again, and then the granddaddy of them all: our Mediterranean cruise in the fall. We’ll take a few days either before or after, depending on whether we want more time in the departing or arriving port city, to mill about and enjoy being in parts of the world that are little-to-nothing like ours.

I’m envisioning sunshine and white billowy clouds full of mischief and joy frolicking in blue skies wherever we go in the coming year. And if water falls from the sky, well then I’ll be the one looking for the rainbow after the storm. That’s the kind of year my 2011 is going to be.

How ’bout you?

This post is written as Day 22 of Reverb 10, inspired and created by Gwen Bell (Best of ’09) and her rockingly awesome cohorts. Are you reverbing too? I’d love for you to share yourself in the comments below.

Wildcat sounds like a wild woman…that would make two of you, together! What a delight. Your big trip in the fall sounds ahhhhmazing.

Your travel – and travel plans – sound SO exciting! And I’m still laughing over Morgan1 and Morgan2 (and thinking – ohmyword, what if they kids are twins – AND named Morgan1 and Morgan2? lol – sounds like the making of a wild and crazy kids’ book!!).

Here’s to rainbows, dear girl!!
