Best of 09 Blog Challenge: Word or Phrase

by Dian Reid-Jancic· Follow Dian on

Note: Every day thru December 31 I’ll be posting from this list. Feel free to join the fun. Just post your link in the comments section so I can follow you, too.

Years gone by have given me new words like beautimus, fantabulous, integrous…but this year gave me an old word. Well a couple of them put together to percolate gratitude: Thank.You.

One of the greatest things I did this year was to be grateful. And one of the easiest ways to express gratitude is to simply say, “Thank you.” 14 days of gratitude lists helped me get really clear on the things and people I’m grateful for in my life. It’s allowed me to take action based on those lists (more on that in a future post).

Saying those two simple words has always been easy for me. What’s different this year is the meaning behind them. I’m seeing myself through different eyes this year—through my own eyes, the eyes of truth, the eyes of authenticity, the eyes of my life coach, the eyes of the best package of 09, the eyes of gratitude—and through these eyes, I see who I really am. I see what I truly appreciate. I see what’s possible—all the endless possibilities, as opposed to the brick walls I’d worked so hard at putting up in front of me and making myself climb over (or slam right into). I see the me I’ve always known existed, and I see everyone and everything around me that helped me get here.

So, to you—my friends, my readers, my family, my new visitors, my colleagues, my leaders, my voyeurs, my here-only-once-and-never-returners, my loved ones, my silent ones, my old ones, my new ones, my trusted ones, my favorite ones, my newfound ones, my inspirations, and everyone in between—to you, I say: Thank You. For all that you’ve done, and all that you’ve not; for all that you will, and all that you won’t. But mostly, thank you for just being you.

Who will you say, “Thank you,” to (and mean it) today?
